Sankara Jayanthi celebrated at Srimatam
Veda Parayanam, Bhashya Parayanam, Bhajans, Sloka Parayanam, discourses etc. were conducted on all days. Every evening, the vigraham of Sri Acharyal was taken to different holy Teerthas in Kanchipuram in procession and abhishekam and pujas were performed.
On the Jayanthi Day (8th May), Rudrabhishekam was performed to Sri Acharya. Avatara Ghata Parayanam was performed and special pujas were performed to Sri Adi Sankara by Their Holinesses Pujyasri Jayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamiji and Sri Sankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamiji. In the evening, the utsava vigraham and portrait of Sri Adi Shankara was taken out in a processsion around the four Raja Veethis on Srimatam's Golden Chariot. His Holiness Pujyasri Jayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamiji participated in the procession. At the Kamakshi Temple, the Mahotsavam commenced from 8 May 2011( Chittirai Month 25th). Visesha Abhishekam and pujas were performed at Adi Sankara's shrine in the temple. In the evenings, the Acharya's Utsava vigraham was taken around the presiding deity Devi Kamakshi's shrine. 10 slokas from the Soundaryalahari were chanted every day. On 17th May 2011, the utsava vigraham of Sri Acharya along with devi Kamakshi was taken out in a procession along the four Raja Veedhis.
